Evidence-Based Hiring: Interviewing & Candidate Assessment

Polished applications and confident interview answers do not always tell you enough about what a candidate can actually do. A live, hands-on program for hiring managers and recruiters who want stronger evidence behind their assessments and more confidence in the decisions they make.

New cohort dates are being scheduled. Register your interest to be notified when booking opens.

Course Overview

Candidates have always prepared for interviews. What has changed is how easy it has become to produce a polished resume, a well-written application and a confident interview answer.

That does not make those signals useless. It does mean hiring managers need to be much better at getting beyond presentation and gathering evidence they can actually use to make a decision. This course is built around that skill.

Across five live sessions, you will take a role you hire for, or a realistic supplied role, and turn it into clear, observable criteria. You will design a practical assessment, practice probing beyond polished answers, score evidence against defined standards and work through how to make a hiring decision you can explain and defend.

You will spend a significant part of the course interviewing, evaluating and making decisions rather than simply discussing interview techniques.

AI may help candidates prepare and may also support parts of your own hiring workflow. The course does not try to prevent either. The focus is on strengthening the human judgment required to decide whether the evidence in front of you genuinely supports a hiring decision.

This is not employment-law training, and it is not a course about recruitment software or AI screening products.

It is practical training for people who have to make good hiring decisions.

Key Outcomes

  • Get better evidence from interviews: Learn how to move beyond polished answers and uncover the examples, decisions and details that actually help you assess a candidate.
  • Build stronger assessments: Design work samples and interview tasks that test the capability you genuinely need rather than rewarding presentation alone.
  • Make your scoring more consistent: Use clear rating anchors so your decisions are based on evidence rather than an unexplained gut feeling.
  • Handle harder interview situations: Practice what to do when a candidate gives a vague answer, an overly rehearsed response, takes credit for team work or presents poorly despite strong underlying evidence.
  • Make decisions you can explain: Leave with a practical process for moving from interview evidence to a clear, defensible hire or no-hire decision.
